From our friends at PopTonic:
If you’re looking for something to do this week, iHeartRadio has you covered.
The fourth annual iHeartRadio ALTer EGO 2021 presented by Capital One is happening this week, and is once again celebrating the biggest Alternative artists and bands.
Although fans are unable to attend the event in person, given the limitations for live events amid the pandemic, the show must go on. This year’s ALTer EGO event is happening this week, on January 28. The all-virtual show will livestream at 9pm ET / 6 pm PT.
The event will feature some big names in Alternative Rock, with all new performances and stories from Billie Eilish and the Foo Fighters. Foo Fighters are kicking things off at 9 pm ET, and Billie will wrap up the evening at 10:20 pm ET.
Both Billie Eilish and the Foo FIghters are slated to release new music this year, so it’ll be interesting to see what they bring to their ALTer EGO performances.
Foo Fighters’ forthcoming album, Medicine at Midnight, arrives on February 5.
Billie Eilish has stated that she is working on a new album, but she hasn’t dropped any solid details about when it might be done. She did just release a Spanish-language collab with Rosalía, though I wouldn’t expect this to make the event.
On top of that, fans can relive some of the most jaw-dropping performances from previous years. The event will also feature previous iconic ALTer EGO performances from Blink-182, Weezer, Beck, The Black Keys, The Killers, Muse, twenty one pilots, Mumford & Sons, Cage the Elephant, and Coldplay.
“Back again for a fourth year, the 2021 iHeartRadio ALTer EGO is bringing the best in Alternative Rock directly to your home,” said Lisa Worden, Program Director for ALT 98.7 and Vice President Rock and Alternative for iHeartMedia. “Fans will get treated to performances from the past 3 years of ALTer EGO that haven’t been seen or heard since that night. Plus, Billie and the Foos play new sets and tell some awesome stories. It’s going to be incredible and it’s free! WHAT?!”
The event will be hosted by Woody of ALT 98.7’s nationally-syndicated The Woody Show. According to Woody, the show will “Help kick off 2021 proper, with a unique ALTer EGO production that will serve as warm-up for the impending return to normalcy.”
The star-studded event will livestream for free on LiveXLive.com, and across LiveXLive mobile and smart TV apps. Fans can also listen across more than 80 Alternative and Rock iHeartRadio stations.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with iHeartMedia. It has been a terrific honor to continue this long standing relationship with the consummate industry leader,” said LiveXLive president Dermot McCormack. “ALTer EGO’s caliber of talent provides non-stop entertainment for our global audience.”
