After a recent Instagram post where Snoop Dogg berated Gayle King over comments she made about Kobe Bryant during an interview with Lisa Leslie, King unsurprisingly started to receive death threats.

Snoop has since then backed away from his tongue-lashing to King after his mother apparently had a few words with him about it, and posted a public apology to King. He also removed the original video where he scolded King for her actions.

Snoop Dogg’s Public Apology to Gayle King

In the video that Snoop Dogg posted in apology to Gayle King, he explained that he was reacting emotionally over the loss of his friend and that he felt the need to protect him.

“Top of the morning! Big Snoop Dogg coming at you live and direct with a message. Two things don’t make no right. When you’re wrong, you gotta fix it.

So with that being said: Gayle King, I publicly tore you down by coming at you in a derogatory manner based off of emotions… me being angry at questions that you asked.

Umm, overreacted. Should have handled it way different than that. I was raised way better than that. So I would like to apologize to you publicly for the language that I used and calling you out of your name and just being disrespectful.

I didn’t mean for it to be like that. I was just expressing myself for a friend that wasn’t here to defend himself. A lot of people look up to me and they love me and they appreciate me, so I want to let them know that anytime you mess up, it’s okay to fix it, it’s okay to man up and say that you’re wrong.

I apologize. Hopefully, we can sit down and talk privately. Have a good day.”

What Prompted Snoop Dogg’s Apology to Gayle King?

In case you missed it, following the death of Kobe Bryant, Snoop Dogg lashed out after Gayle King asked WNBA star Lisa Leslie during an interview about the sexual assault charge that Bryant faced.

In a video he posted to Instagram, he said:

“Gayle King. Out of pocket for that s**t. Way out of pocket. What do you gain from that? I swear to God, we’re the worst. We’re the f**king worst. We expect more from you, Gayle.

Don’t you hang out with Oprah? Why’re ya’ll attacking us? We’re your people. You aint coming after f**king Harvey Weinstein asking them d**ba** questions. I get sick of ya’ll.

I wanna call you one. Is that okay if I call her one? Funky dog-head b***h, how dare you try to torch my motherf**king homeboy’s reputation, punk motherf**ker? Respect the family and back off, b***h, before we come get you.”
