John Cena is a married man!
Official records show that the actor and pro wrestler tied the knot with girlfriend Shay Shariatzadeh in Tampa, Florida.
The couple began dating back in early 2019, after Cena’s high profile split from ex-fiancee Nikki Bella in 2018.
Fans first learned of their relationship in March 2019, when the two were spotted on a date night in Shay’s hometown of Vancouver, Canada. They were again photographed kissing the following month at the airport.
The relationship apparently got very serious pretty quickly.
They were spotted by photogs again in July, at a Tampa restaurant having dinner. It appeared as if they could not keep their hands — and lips — off each other. According to TMZ, they were enjoying each others’ company so much that they stayed at the table for a whopping four hours!
Cena and his new lady made their romance red carpet official at the Playing With Fire premiere in October 2019. And in fact, it was on the set of this movie that the pair met each other.
At the time, Cena shared, “What’s truly special about this one is that, no matter what projects I’m involved in the future, this one will always have a special meaning because I got to film a special project and meet someone special.”
They made their second red carpet appearance together at the premiere of Dolittle earlier this year. They were photographed sharing a kiss, and Cena referred to Shay as “family” while talking to reporters.
Things must have been going pretty great, because it looks like the two got engaged on the down-low. They filed for a marriage certificate in Florida last Friday, October 9th.
They certainly didn’t waste any time, either. They officially tied the knot just a few short days later, on Monday, October 12th.
Don’t feel left out if you didn’t get an invite to the wedding. As it turns out, these two lovebirds didn’t bother with a ceremony. Instead, they swapped “I Dos” at an attorney’s office in Tampa.
A rep for Cena hasn’t responded to requests for comment, but I’m willing to bet he’s all tied up at the moment.
This is actually Cena’s second marriage. He was previously married to Elizabeth Huberdeau from 2009 to 2012.
Cena then dated Nikki Bella for roughly 6 years before they split. The two ended their engagement in 2018, just weeks before their wedding date. They reportedly split because Cena didn’t want kids at the time, and Nikki was ready to start a family.
