Is Britney Spears’ Father a Threat to Her kids?

Y’all know we’re Team Britney around here. She has been through so much, and we truly just want good things for her. For the last 18 months, the spotlight has been on Britney’s ongoing conservatorship under her father’s care.

Now, it looks like things might be changing–and it might be her father’s fault.

Allegation of Child Abuse

The children Britney shares with Kevin Federline live pretty much full time with their dad. The official custody arrangement has been 70/30 since last August, but Britney and Kevin recently decided to adjust it to a 90/10 split in custodial rights.

Britney’s visits with the boys–Sean Preston (13) and Jayden James (12)–are supervised. Last week, the kids were visiting Britney at her father’s home when Sean Preston apparently got into a fight with his grandfather and locked himself in his room. Jamie Spears allegedly broke down the door and “violently shook” Sean Preston.

Federline and his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, decided to file a police report about the incident, alleging abuse. They sought a restraining order against Jamie Spears, which was granted by a judge. Kaplan is on record as saying, “Britney did the right thing and removed the children and took them out of there.”

Jamie Spears is already under investigation for how he manages his daughter. While the #FreeBritney hashtag started as something of a joke, there is now a serious legal investigation into the situation. Britney has been under a conservatorship for over a decade.

Since March of this year, her father has been the only person in charge of her life after lawyer Andrew Wallet abruptly quit his post.

Should Jamie Be Removed?

Critics of Jamie Spears allege that he has been pushing his daughter to work, including signing up for another lucrative Vegas residency, despite her fragile mental health. Considering that Britney did cancel that residency to check into a facility earlier this year, it’s possible that those critics are right.

Typically, a conservatorship is granted to people who are “gravely disabled” because of dementia, extreme mental illness, or developmental disabilities. If Britney is truly in such bad shape that she can’t care for herself, then why hasn’t she been allowed to retire and focus on enjoying her life and strengthening her bond with her kids?

Surely she has enough money to live comfortably for the rest of her life–or at least to hire the best tax lawyers and advocates available to take back control of her life and finances.

We’re waiting with bated breath to find out if Jamie Spears has been toxic all long.
