Rumi and Sir

Parents:  Jay-Z and Beyonce

Why the name?:  This set of twins were gifted with their names for these reasons, as explained by their father, Jay-Z, during an appearance on a Rap Radar podcast: “Sir was like, man, come out of the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like Sir.”

As for his daughter, Jay-Z stated, “Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter.”

Journey River

Parents:  Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox

Why the name?:  Although no reason was ever given for this name, we’re thinking they just wanted to make sure their third son’s name was extra unique.

Strummer

Parents:  Preston J. Cook and Julia Stiles

Why the name?:  Strummer’s parents haven’t revealed the meaning behind the name, but it isn’t hard to think of a few ideas that might have spurred the idea!

Lula Rose Gardner

Parents:  Dave Gardner and Liv Tyler

Why the name?:  Lula means “lady princess”, which is absolutely adorable and perfectly suited for a daughter of Liv Tyler!

Onyx Solace Morissette-Treadway

Parents:  Mario “Souleye” Treadway and Alanis Morrisette

Why the name?:  This is another celeb couple that declined to give a reason behind their child’s name, but I’ve gotta say…  that poor kid is going to have fun learning how to spell it!  It also isn’t a big surprise that they’d name their child this way, considering their first child is named Ever Imre.

Amada Lee Gosling

Parents:  Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling

Why the name?:  Amada was named after her maternal great-grandmother, which means ‘beloved’ in Spanish.
