The day has finally come!
Katy Perry is a first-time mom after welcoming a baby girl with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
The happy couple shared the news of their daughter’s arrival with UNICEF — they are Goodwill Ambassadors for the charity — on Wednesday, August 26. They shared an adorable black-and-white photo of their little one holding hands with both of them.
“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” they gushed in a statement.
Daisy is Orlando’s second child. The Lord of the Rings actor also has a 9-year-old son, Flynn, that he shares with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
Revealed in the post was the baby’s name: Daisy Dove Bloom.
They have not revealed many details about little Daisy Dove’s arrival, but they did point out that they were blessed with a “peaceful” birth experience.
“But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was,” they shared. “Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines, and medicines that prevent diseases.”
With the hope that “every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare,” the new parents asked fans to donate towards the charity.
In fact, in “celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has,” Katy and Orlando established a UNICEF donation page on behalf of baby Daisy.
In the video, Katy showed off her baby bump throughout the video, and at the very end, she lovingly caresses her belly.
After dropping the music video, the Grammy-nominated songstress also took the time to share her wonderful news on social media. She hit up Instagram Live to tell fans she’s expecting a “jam packed summer” thanks to “giving birth… literally” to both a new album and a child.
