There’s a new baby in the Hefner clan, and it’s a girl!
Cooper Hefner, son of the late Hugh Hefner, and his wife, actress Scarlett Byrne, welcomed their first baby on Monday.
The Playboy heir shared the news on social media, posting two photos on both Instagram and Twitter. One photo shows Scarlett holding the brand new baby in her hospital bed with Cooper standing by her side. In another photo, their daughter is swaddled in a blanket.
“At 5:23 pm this afternoon Scarlett and I welcomed our daughter Betsy Rose Hefner into the world,” Cooper captioned the post.
“We are overwhelmed with gratitude, love and joy,” the first-time father added.
Cooper also talked to People, telling the outlet that their little “treasure” weighed in at 6 lbs, 5 oz. The Playboy heir also explained their new baby girl’s name.
The couple decided to name their beautiful little girl after Cooper’s grandmother, Betsy Aldridge-Conrad, who unfortunately passed in July.
“My grandmother meant the world to both Scarlett and I,” Cooper told the media outlet.
So far, the couple has received plenty of well wishes — including those from former Playboy playmate Kendra Wilkinson, and Scarlett’s Harry Potter co-stars.
“Congrats to you all. She’s beautiful. welcome to the world Betsy!!” Kendra commented online.
“Oh my goodness she’s perfecccct!!!” Wrote Harry Potter alum Evy Lynch. “Congratulations!!!”
Cooper and Scarlett tied the knot back in November 2019 after being engaged for four years. They kept it lowkey, opting to wed at the Ventura County Courthouse in California.
It wasn’t long before the two announced they were starting a family.
“Scarlett and I have been blessed with wonderful news we are ecstatic to share,” Cooper revealed on Instagram in March 2020. “This summer we will be welcoming a new member to the family. The two of us could not be happier as we wait for the arrival of our little one.”
Scarlett made her own post at the time, too. She shared a baby bump photo, writing, “Cooper and I are delighted to share that we have a little one on the way. Our hearts are filled with gratitude and joy, and the two of us can’t wait to meet the newest little Hefner.”
The arrival of baby Betsy comes after a busy year for Cooper.
The Playboy heir completed Air Force basic military training earlier this year. He then took a tenure, and announced last month that he is running for a seat on the California State Senate.
Cooper is also a teacher and board member at Chapman University, a fellow for the German Marshall Fund, and a board member of nonprofits such as Children of the Night.
