What’s a ‘Goddess Circle’ and Why Does Jennifer Aniston Have One?

Jennifer Aniston dished about her life at 50, and man, does it sound weird. She’s Goopier than Gwenyth these days–read on to found out the details!

What’s a Goddess Circle?

Apparently, Jen and her best friends get together for a “goddess circle” whenever anything major happens in their lives. The women all fly out to one of their homes and then participate “a ritual they’ve been doing for three decades: a goddess circle.

Seated on cushions, cross-legged on the living room floor, they passed around a beechwood talking stick decorated with feathers and charms, much as they had done for every major event of their lives.”

That sounds a lot more like something Phoebe Buffay would do than Rachel Green.

While there are shades of Goop in Jen’s ritual, if Gwenyth Paltrow was doing “goddess circles” she would have already started selling handcrafted beechwood talking sticks on her website. Jen is really missing out on a merchandising opportunity!

In all honesty, I’m picturing a bunch of 50-something white women sitting around trashing their exes while they sip sparkle water and vape organic macha, or whatever. That sounds like something that’d happen in Los Angeles, doesn’t it?

We’re not sure who attends these goddess circles, but both Courtney Cox and Jimmy Kimmel’s wife, Molly, were headed to Mexico to celebrate Jen’s birthday.

‘About to Really Bloom’

Anyway, although Jennifer Aniston’s love life has stalled out after her split from Justin Theroux, she told The New York Times that things are looking up in her professional life.

“I’m entering into what I feel is one of the most creatively fulfilling periods of my life,” she said, dismissing the idea that turning 50 is going to slow her down. “Seriously, I’ve been doing this for 30 years and I feel like it’s just about to really bloom.”

I’ve always had a soft spot for Jennifer Aniston, not because of Friends but for the movie Office Space. She resisted returning to TV for a while, but her career as a leading lady never quite landed. Now, though, she’s doing prestige streaming TV and producing acclaimed movies like Dumplin’.

Jen is also due for a fat paycheck from Murder Mystery, her upcoming collaboration with Adam Sandler, which looks terrible but will still probably be a hit for Netflix.

Jennifer Aniston’s Next Project

You’ll be able to catch Jen in The Morning Show–but only if you have Apple+. She’s starring as a morning news anchor whose co-host (played by Steve Carrell) was fired over sexual harassment allegations.

Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, and Mark Duplass costar. It looks like an interesting drama with parallels to the Matt Lauer scandal on Good Morning America. Is it too soon to make a TV show about that?
