It looks like another one bites the dust!

Miley Cyrus has confirmed that she and beau Cody Simpson have officially called it quits on their relationship.

Inside Source Broke Breakup News, and it Didn’t Sit Well With Miley

The news broke yesterday after sources close to the former couple spoke to TMZ. According to them, the couple broke up within the last few weeks, though it’s unclear what exactly led to the split.

Their break up comes after about 10 months of dating.

I guess its a lot easier to keep breakups on the down low when everyone’s staying indoors and social distancing!

In any case, Miley caught wind that their split had been reported to the media. And, it looks like the 27-year-old singer didn’t appreciate someone close to the couple revealing their break up for them.

Amid the release of her new track “Midnight Sky,” Miley hopped on Instagram Live. But before she started celebrating her new music, she decided to “get something that is obvious out of the way.”

“A year ago, almost to this exact date, the media tried to tell my story for me and control my narrative, and I’m just not having it,” the singer told fans, referencing her 2019 split from Liam Hemsworth.

“So today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up,” she continued. “It was confirmed by a ‘reliable source,’ even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the two individuals that are participating in it.”

As it turns out, though, that source was reliable. Miley went on to admit that her and Cody Simpson have indeed broken up.

Although she didn’t give any specific reasoning, she did say, “Two halves can’t make a whole and we’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be.”

Miley did make a point to say she’s trying to keep it drama-free — and she’d appreciate it if we didn’t make a big deal about it. They’re still friends, after all.

“Don’t make it some drama story if next week we’re out hanging out or getting pizza,” Miley told fans. “We’ve been friends for 10 years and we’re gonna continue to be friends.”

It looks like there’s no hurt feelings on Cody’s side, either.

Thursday evening, Cody posted a screenshot of a FaceTime call with now-ex Miley on his Instagram story.

“So proud of you,” he wrote, as he listened to Miley’s brand new track. “Congratulations to the most special of all. Go cop that new new!”
