‘The Bachelor’ Dating Show for Seniors Coming to ABC


Calling all boomers! If you’re over 65 and you’re looking for love, you’re in luck.

ABC is expanding the Bachelor Nation, and this time, they’re putting together a new version of the popular reality dating show featuring seniors.

New Reality Dating Show Featuring Seniors Revealed

It looks like ABC is looking to explore senior living and dating with a new addition to the Bachelor franchise. ABC revealed the surprise new reality show during the most recent episode of The Bachelor on Monday.

During one of the commercial breaks, the network put out a notice that they are “now casting seniors looking for love,” and included a link to ABC’s casting page online.

ABC’s head of alternative programming, Robert Mills also tweeted about it, saying, “#Bachelornation, give us your Grumpiest Old Men, give us your Goldenest Girls. #TheBachelor”

He later clarified that the casting call was specifically for individuals who are 65+.

One producer tweeted about the casting call on Instagram, posting a photo that offers more details:

This will be the first reality dating show to feature older contestants.

Of course, social media users have their own suggestions for the show. One Twitter user replied to Robert Mills, suggesting that the senior dating competition take place in Boca Raton, Florida.

Producers Looking for Strong Senior Cast

This new offshoot of The Bachelor franchise, which Warner Horizon Unscripted Television is producing, is still be in early exploratory stages.

The show has not been ordered yet. They’re hoping to garner enough interest and put together a strong cast in order to get the green light.

ABC recently approved another Bachelor addition to the franchise, The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart. In it, 20 single men and women will look for love through music.

According to the official website, contestants will be “singing well-known songs, both individually and as couples,” and will be trying “to form attractions through the melodies, find and reveal their feelings, and ultimately, fall in love.”

It joins the current three series that are already a part of Bachelor Nation: The BachelorThe Bachelorette, and Bachelor in Paradise.
