Gianna Floyd, the 6-year-old daughter of George Floyd, is now a Disney stockholder thanks to Barbra Streisand.
The young girl revealed the news in a proud photo on her Instagram account.
Gianna, whose father died in police custody last month after an officer pressed his knee into the man’s neck for almost nine minutes, took the time to thank Streisand for the gift in an Instagram post on Saturday. She shared a series of photos of herself holding a letter and the certificate detailing her stock in the company.
“Thank you @barbrastreisand for my package, I am now a Disney Stockholder thanks to you,” she wrote alongside the photos, adding three heart face emojis.
The post does not reveal how many shares the Grammy award-winning singer gifted Gianna.
Streisand also sent two DVDs of her 1965 and 1966 TV specials, My Name is Barbra and Color Me Barbra.
Although Disney’s stock dropped some in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, it has already started recovering in recent weeks. It’s also worth noting that investors have seen dramatically positive returns on their Disney stock over the past 10 years — with returns of approximately 370 percent.
Gianna has seen an outpouring of support in the wake of her father’s unjust death.
Texas Southern University announced that it would provide her a full scholarship, should she choose to attend the university.
“We know the value of an education in the pursuit of solutions and generational progress,” Gerald Smith, chairman of the TSU Foundation, said in a statement. “We look forward to embracing her into the TSU family.”
“This board is committed to education and understands that a college degree is one of many powerful steps toward a productive and successful life,” said TSU board chair Albert H. Myres. “We know that this gesture cannot take the place of her dad’s loving presence, but we hope that it will contribute to easing her journey through life.”
In the event she chooses another school, she’s still set up. Kanye West set up a college savings fund for her future tuition. It was part of his $2 million donation to support the families of Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery.
On top of that, the official GoFundMe page for Gianna has already raised over $2 million.
“Thank you so much for the outpouring of love and support,” Gianna’s mother, Roxie Washington, wrote on the page.
