The coronavirus pandemic is wrecking pretty much everything right now.
But there is one good thing to come out of all of this: a shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal doing handstands on Instagram.
Famous celebs are having to stay home, just like the rest of us. And in case you haven’t noticed, they’re all getting stir crazy, or at least a little bored.
Rita Wilson has gotten so bored that she shared her personal cellular phone number with all of her social media followers. I wonder if she’s regretting that, yet?
Britney Spears has spent so much time in isolation that she believes she broke the record for fastest person in the world. She claimed she ran 100 meters in 5.97 seconds, obliterating Olympic athlete Usain Bolt’s world record of 9.58 seconds.
But on Thursday, Jake Gyllenhaal took his shirt off. You’re welcome!
Technically, we have English actor Tom Holland to thank. He’s so bored that he issued his own internet “challenge” — essentially, he did something and then called on other people to do it, too. He tagged actor Harrison Osterfield, actor and gin-slinger Ryan Reynolds, and of course, Jake Gyllenhaal.
He dubbed his challenge the “Handstand Challenge.” Sounds kind of like a snooze fest, right?
In actuality, the challenge requires the subject to put on a shirt while upside down in a handstand. And I’m here for it.
Gyllenhaal stepped up to Holland’s challenge. He pulled his locks back into a man-bun, put on some leggings, and gave Holland (and the rest of us) what we wanted.
“Challenge accepted,” the actor wrote on the video posted to his Instagram story.
The actor definitely completed the task of getting his shirt on. However, he also used the challenge as an opportunity to show love to Russ & Daughters, a local New York restaurant in need of some support right now. His shirt of choice for the challenge was a tie dye shirt from the New York restaurant.
Afterward, he nominated three more people to rock the “Handstand Challenge” next.
“I nominate Hugh Jackman, 50 Cent, and Maggie Gyllenhaal,” he told the camera. He also added, “Don’t forget to support your local businesses.”
In case you were wondering, Deadpool‘s Ryan Reynolds did not complete the challenge. Instead, the 43-year-old actor appeared puzzled and disgusted for several seconds. He then hilariously responded with a simple, “No.”
