Have you ever noticed that Eva Mendes has never shared photos of her daughters on social media? On top of that, the actress never posts about partner Ryan Gosling, either.
In response to a fan, Mendes finally explained why you won’t be seeing any pictures of her kids (or Gosling) any time soon.
The 46-year-old actress shares two daughters with longtime love Gosling: 5-year-old Esmeralda Amada Gosling, and Amada Lee Gosling, who turns 4 next month. But the Hollywood couple’s kids are never seen on their famous parents’ social media accounts.
Mendes had originally posted a painting from artist René Magritte. In the caption, she explains, “During these times, I’m so confused about what to post so I’m going to post things that move me in hopes that they move you as well.”
But she continued, “Since I don’t post [about my] immediate family, and it feels so wrong to post about work, here you go…”
One fan commented, asking her why she doesn’t post about her family. Mendes took the time to clarify.
“hi! I have always had a clear boundary when it comes to my man and my kids,” Mendes started. “I’ll talk about them of course, with limits, but I won’t post pictures of our daily life.”
The actress went on to explain that her daughters are so young that it doesn’t feel right to make decisions for them about what is shared online.
“Since my children are still so little and don’t understand what posting their image really means, I don’t have their consent,” Mendes wrote. “And I won’t post their image until they’re old enough to give me consent.”
On top of that, the Hitch star also explained why she doesn’t ever mention partner Gosling, either. And it’s not because there’s trouble in paradise.
“As far as Ryan and I, it just works for us this way, to stay private,” Mendes said. So, I guess these two lovebirds won’t be needing divorce attorneys, after all.
Mendes also took the time to reassure fans that she doesn’t mind explaining herself on social media. Though I’m sure she has extra time on her hands to respond as she follows those stay-at-home orders.
“I don’t mind explaining myself sometimes. I care about people and their questions,” she replied to another fan. “So I’m happy to answer honestly.”
