The ongoing legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber heard continues on, as a judge has given Depp’s defamation lawsuit the green light.
In his $50 million defamation case, Johnny Depp makes startling claims against ex-wife Amber Heard.
The battle between these two has been playing out publicly since 2016. That’s when Heard had filed for divorce and a restraining order. She cited allegations of Depp’s abuse and substance issues.
Their divorce was finalized in August of 2016.
After that, Heard published her now infamous op-ed piece in The Washington Post in 2018. In it, she made allegations of abuse during their marriage.
In response, Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife. The Pirates of the Carribbean actor is suing her for $50 million.
“Ms. Heard is not a victim of domestic abuse, she is a perpetrator,” Depp insists.
As part of his lawsuit, Depp makes some serious allegations about the Aquaman actress.
Most notably, he alleges that Heard cheated on him with Elon Musk during their marriage. And, he’s being backed up by his penthouse staff.
Depp claims that while he was away to shoot for a film, Heard invited Musk to their penthouse. The penthouse staff has reportedly confirmed that Musk came over, but that’s not all. They say that Musk arrived late at night, and then left the next morning.
Depp didn’t need GPS vehicle tracking to figure out that his wife was cheating on him. Aside from his staff, he also has surveillance footage as proof.
There’s also reportedly surveillance camera footage of the penthouse garage and elevator. In one of the leaked videos, Heard can be seen cozying up with Musk. Sounds like she’s not very good at sneaking around.
Heard’s lawyer had asked the court to dismiss Depp’s suit. Her lawyer claimed that the op-ed “was about her and what happened to her after she came forward,” not actually about allegations against Depp.
Her lawyer also claimed that Depp’s suit was barred by a 1-year statute of limitations.
Fairfax County Chief Judge Bruce D. White was convinced that at least three of the claims Depp made against his ex-wife are actionable under defamation by implication.
In other words, Depp’s $50 mil defamation suit is set to move forward and still go to trial. Sounds like a win for Depp in this long-standing legal battle.
