Taylor Swift has some concerns over the spread of the coronavirus, and she issued some advice to her fans: “We need to make sacrifices right now.”
She’s noticed that her fans are still trying to carry on like normal, despite warnings that congregating will intensify the spread of the coronavirus. So, now she’s pleading with them to stay home instead.
The singer/songwriter took to her Instagram stories to ask her fans to stay home after noticing way too many social gatherings still continuing.
“I love you so much and need to express my concern that things aren’t being taken seriously enough right now,” the superstar wrote. “I’m seeing lots of get togethers and hangs and parties still happening.”
T-Swift then advised her followers, “This is the time to cancel plans, actually truly isolate as much as you can, and don’t assume that because you don’t feel sick that you aren’t possibly passing something on to someone elderly or vulnerable to this.
“It’s a really scary time but we need to make social sacrifices right now,” Taylor concluded.
Public health experts have recommended social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic. Schools across the country have started closing for several weeks, and employers have started urging workers to stay home.
In an effort to prepare for social distancing for several weeks, officials recommend that people stock up not only on food and paper products (toilet paper, anyone?!), but also over-the-counter medications used for pain relief and flu symptom relief.
Many concerts and tours globally have been postponed or scrapped altogether. This includes Taylor’s own upcoming concert.
On top of that, it appears as if Hollywood is taking the pandemic seriously. Many TV shows and movies are halting production amid concerns. These include America’s Got Talent and Grey’s Anatomy, The Batman and Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
T-Swift joins other stars in urging their fans to self-isolate. Ariana Grande has also started pleading to fans to understand the seriousness of the situation.
Ariana wrote on both her Instagram story and on Twitter that it’s “really blowing [her] mind” that so many people are still talking about going out. She’s pleading with her followers not to “turn a blind eye” to the situation.
“It is incredibly dangerous and selfish to take this situation that lightly,” Ari wrote, continuing, “You sound stupid and privileged and you need to care more about others. Like now.”
