It’s only been a few weeks since Amanda Bynes introduced the world to her new fiancé, Paul Michael, but it looks like it’s already over between these two.
News of the couple calling it quits comes after only three weeks of engagement.
Amanda Bynes and Paul Michael announced their engagement on Valentine’s Day, after having met each other in a sober living facility. Bynes posted a glimpse of her giant engagement ring, writing, “engaged to tha [sic] love of my life.” The couple had reportedly only known each other for a little over two months beforehand.
Bynes showed him off again when she posted an Instagram video to make amends for her past behaviors. In the post, where she apologized to the many people she called “ugly” on Twitter several years ago, she also couldn’t help but gush over her fiancé, who was in the video with her.
“Hey, everyone, this is Paul, my fiancé. I’m so lucky,” Bynes told her fans. “As you can see, he’s drop dead gorgeous. He’s also the best person on the face of the earth… I just want to let you know that I love you guys, and I’m so happy now.”
Rumors about the happy couple started to swirl when Bynes suddenly deleted any trace of Michael from her Instagram account. She also shut off the comments on her other posts. At this time, she hasn’t made any statements about the breakup. Her last social media update was from March 1, when she made a post that read, “Celebrating being sober a year and two months!”
Paul Michael confirmed to In Touch Weekly that the couple split only a short three weeks into their engagement. But hey, at least the relationship fizzled before Bynes found herself in need of a divorce attorney later on.
“We did,” Michael said, confirming the rumors. “I love her though, she’s my best friend.”
The split is likely due to Bynes’ conservatorship. Bynes has been under the control of the conservatorship since 2014. This happened after the actress had a public meltdown and was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold. She is now unable to make any major life decisions, like marriage, without approval from her conservator, mom Lynn Bynes.
It has been reported that her mom did not approve of the engagement.
“Amanda’s parents are fully aware of her engagement and at this point are not approving Amanda to legally get married under the conservatorship,” a source said when Bynes had announced the engagement.
