Twenty-seven years after his first divorce from Talia Balsam, George Clooney is headed toward his second.

These rumors come just after the company he champions, Nespresso, was busted using child labor. Needless to say, this hasn’t been the best week for the actor.

Are George and Amal Getting a Divorce?

Sadly, sources close to the couple are saying that George and Amal’s marriage has been on rocky ground for some time. An insider told Women’s Day,

“Amal seemed very focused on her job as a guest professor at Columbia University, whereas George was on his own path, socializing with his pals and leaving the kids to the nanny when their mum was at work. Neither of them seemed happy with the other.”

According to the source, Amal is displeased with George’s tendency to bring his friends around their home in Lake Como, Italy.

“Amal can’t think straight in Como. She’s tried to tell George that she finds constantly hosting people exhausting, not to mention disruptive to the kids and distracting to her while she’s trying to work on complex cases.”

I imagine a busy actor’s lifestyle of fanfare and parties does not gel incredibly well with a high-profile lawyer’s schedule. Sad as it is, it’s not totally shocking that they’re likely seeking out a divorce attorney. No one truly knows how to repair a marriage, especially when a couple’s lifestyles are the polar opposite of each other.

“He doesn’t understand why Amal doesn’t just cut back on her work and enjoy the high life with him,” the source continued.

Divorce rumors have been following George and Amal for a couple years now, so it’s never certain. Another source told New Idea that “Divorce isn’t an option to either of them…They have come to appreciate that they’re two very different people, but instead of fighting or trying to impose their will on each other, they’ve found a way to back off in some areas and compromise in others.”

We wish them the best in figuring out how to overcome their struggles.
