It looks like Amanda Bynes is trying to make amends, as she took to Instagram to apologize for her past behavior on Twitter.
The formerly troubled star says she was “drugged out” then, but she’s doing much better–she says she’s been sober for a year now.
Bynes made plenty of headlines back in 2013, after she called a slew of celebrities “ugly” on her Twitter: the likes of Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Chrissy Teigen, Zac Efron, Jay-Z, RuPaul, Drake, Jenny McCarthy, and even the Obamas. It didn’t stop there either, as she said similar things about those close to her.
She later entered treatment for her substance abuse and mental illness.
In the new Instagram video, which Bynes posted on Thursday, she appears to be making amends for her behavior. In it, she said, “I just wanted to post a video to say I’m sorry to everyone who I called ugly on Twitter.”
“I was feeling so ugly at the time,” Bynes explained. “And it was really hard for me to express myself at the time because I was so drugged out.”
“And now I’ve remained sober for over a year,” Bynes continued, and added, “Same with Paul,” referencing her new fiancé, Paul Michael, who was also featured in the video.
The 33-year-old star also had some nice things to say about Michael, who said, “What’s up!” to viewers when she introduced him.
“I’m so lucky, as you can see he’s drop dead gorgeous,” Bynes says of her fiancé. “He’s also the best person on the face of the earth…I just want to let you know that I love you guys, and I’m so happy now,” Bynes told her fans.
Bynes revealed her new engagement to Michael on Valentine’s day, when she posted a glimpse of her ring and wrote, “Engaged to tha love of my life.” The video has since been deleted from Bynes’ Instagram.
Reportedly, Bynes and Michael met while they were in the same sober living facility, and had only known each other for a little over two months before they became engaged.
