Erykah Badu is certainly getting personal with a new product she’s planning.
The 48-year-old singer has been working on incense that has been created from her used underwear.
Badu has been focusing on Badu World Market, her new online store slated to open on February 20. It’s expected to feature clothing and accessories, as well as apothecary goods and music merchandise.
However, it will also feature one unconventional product that pays tribute to what Badu claims is her “superpower:” her… uh, nether regions.
The four-time Grammy winner claims, “There’s an urban legend that my p**** changes men.”
“The men that I fall in love with, and fall in love with me, change jobs and lives,” she said in a very matter-of-fact tone, according to an interview recently published by 10 Magazine, a British publication.
The flamboyant star insists that the finished product will “smell as advertised.” Her used underwear was actually used to create the incense. Badu says that she took “lots of pairs” of her panties, cut them up, and burned them. That means that “even the ash is part of it,” she says.
Badu says that she didn’t mind one bit purging her underwear drawer, since she “stopped wearing anything down there a while back,” as noted in the magazine.
When asked if the process (and product?) felt pretty personal, she quipped, “Yeah, man!” She then added, “The people deserve it!”
Badu plans to sell the unconventional product, aptly named “Badu’s P****,” in the new online store. You know, in case you were dying to know when you could pick up some new incense that’s made from Badu’s used underwear. In fact, you “deserve it!”
Of course, Badu isn’t the first celebrity to market a scent inspired by her crotch. Gwyneth Paltrow released her $75 “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle in her Goop shop back in December. However, if you were hoping to scoop one up, I hate to tell you that they’re sold out.
