If there was one big winner from Sunday evening’s 62nd annual Grammy Awards, it had to have been Billie Eilish.
The 18-year-old “bad guy” singer basically won the whole awards ceremony when she swept the four biggest prizes at the 2020 Grammys.
“God, this is so crazy!” the singer exclaimed while accepting the award for Best New Artist. She also took the time to thank her fans, saying, “I think the fans deserve everything. I feel like they have not been talked about enough tonight.
“Because they’re the only reason any of us are here at all,” Billie added. “You guys make this worth it.”
Best New Artist wasn’t the only award that she picked up. She also snagged Grammys for Song of the Year and Record of the Year for her hit “bad guy,” plus Best Pop Vocal Album.
But Billie Eilish also walked away with the mother of them all: The award for Album of the Year for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
In fact, the singer won all but one award that she was nominated for. Lizzo managed to beat her in the Best Pop Solo Performance category for “Truth Hurts.”
With all of Billie’s Grammy wins, she became the youngest person in Grammy history to sweep the four major categories, and is only the second artist to ever do it. The last person who took all four top categories was Christopher Cross back in 1981.
Billie is now the youngest person in Grammy history to take Album of the Year. She easily edged out Taylor Swift, who was 20 when she won it a decade ago for Fearless.
Of course, Billie Eilish couldn’t believe it. “Please sit down. Shhh! Can I just say that I think Ariana Grande deserves this,” she told everyone while on stage accepting the award for Album of the Year. “‘Thank U, Next’ got me through some sh*t and I think it deserves like more than anything in the world.”
When the camera showed Ari in the audience, the singer wasn’t having it and wanted the focus to stay on pal Billie. She was seen shaking her head and mouthing “No, no, no.” She also blew kisses at the pop star. How sweet!
