Fans of the “The Witcher” are sure to be excited about the news that Netflix confirmed yesterday on their Twitter account.

Thanks to how wildly successful the series already is, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Netflix is going to do everything they can to continue banking on such a lucrative project.

Netflix Announces New Witcher Spinoff Series

“The Witcher” is getting a new spinoff in the form of an anime movie titled, “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.”

Netflix confirmed the spinoff on Twitter, but they have yet to set a release date.

“The rumors are true,” stated Netflix. “A new Witcher story is in the works! The anime film, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, will take us back to a new threat facing the Continent.

Brought to you by the Witcher team @LHissrich and @BeauDeMayo, and Studio Mir the studio behind Legend of Korra.”

The screenplay for “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf” will be written by Beau DeMayo. DeMayo also wrote the episode “Betrayer Moon” in the first season of the Netflix series.

‘The Witcher’ to Set a Netflix Record

“The Witcher” is on track to become the most-viewed first season ever on Netflix, based on their Q4 earnings report. An incredible 76 million “member households” tuned in within the first four weeks of the show airing.

Not only that, but the original novels by Andrzej Sapkowski that the series was based upon also received an increase in sales. The video game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt experienced a huge boost as well.

In fact, after the Netflix series aired, more gamers started playing the RPG than when the game was first released in 2015. Talk about “tossing a coin to your Witcher!”
