Jesse Tyler Ferguson casually revealed that he and his husband, Justin Mikita, are about to start a modern family of their own!
The “Modern Family” actor appeared on Wednesday’s episode of “The Late Late Show With James Corden,” along with actor Charlie Hunnam.
James Corden asks Hunnam, who will turn 40 this year, how he feels about hitting that milestone. Hunnam reveals that he’s “cautiously optimistic” about entering his 40s.
Corden then asks his other guest, Ferguson, who is currently 44, “Was turning 40 a big deal for you, just psychologically?”
Ferguson admits that it was a big deal, saying that he feels turning 40 is “when you finally become an adult” and “start getting serious about things.” And that’s when he dropped his big reveal.
“Actually, this is something I haven’t even mentioned to anyone, if we can keep it between the three of us, and you all,” he jokes with the audience. “But I’m actually expecting a baby in July with my husband! But shhh, don’t tell anyone. Let’s just keep it between us.”
With a huge smile on his face, the “Modern Family” star gushes about his bundle of joy.
A giddy Corden asks Ferguson, “Oh, my god! Do you know what you’re having? A boy? A girl?” to which Ferguson perfectly replies, “A human,” with a grin.
He admits, “I’m like, I’m 44 now. Let’s get this show going. Tick tock.”
He also gives Hunnam a little advice, telling him, “No pressure, but in the next four years, you should really start to think about that.”
Ferguson and his husband will be celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary in July. That’s the same month that their new bundle of joy is expected to arrive!
It looks like the dad-to-be will have more time to spend with his family soon, too. His hit show “Modern Family” is in its final season after eleven strong years on the air. The cast only has three episodes left to film.
Corden and Ferguson discuss the sad feelings that will surface as the show comes to a close, but Corden says, “come July, you’re gonna make your new modern family. And it’s gonna be beautiful.”
Congrats, Jesse Tyler Ferguson!
