Billie Eilish Is a Bond Girl: Teen Superstar, Iconic Film Series to Collab

Can we talk about how Billie Eilish is absolutely killing it right now? This barely-18-year-old recently won Billboard Music’s Woman of the Year award, becoming the youngest in history to ever do so.

She’s also the first artist born in this century to have a #1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? was the best-performing album in all of 2019, and it was recorded in her brother’s bedroom.

Now, it has been announced that Eilish and her brother are writing and recording the theme song for the brand new James Bond movie. She is the youngest artist ever to have this distinct honor.

What can’t Billie do?

Let’s Talk About the Bond Song

The theme song for the new Bond movie, which is to be titled “No Time To Die,” will come out in April of this year. Rumors that Billie and her brother Finneas are working on a new Bond track have been circling for a while, and Eilish herself fed fuel to the fire by tweeting pictures of previous Bond girls.

It became official when the official 007 Instagram shared a promotional picture of Eilish, saying that she and Finn will be creating the signature Bond song.

Side note: before Billie, 22-year-old Sheena Easton was the youngest artist to record a Bond theme song, hers being the 1981 classic “For Your Eyes Only.”

Billie Is Super Excited About Her Bond Work

Billie shared an Instagram post where you can feel her excitement about her work coming through.

She also talked about it in a statement this week after the announcement was made. “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way,” she admitted. “To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor … James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

Finn added his own thoughts on Instagram, saying that writing for Bond was “something we’ve been dreaming about doing our entire lives. There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema in my opinion.”

It’s nice to see that their obvious fame and good fortune hasn’t made them any less humble – probably in part because they still live with their parents in the house Billie grew up in, despite her having plenty of money to move out.

Billie credits living there, and touring with her entire family, as one of the many reasons she stays grounded.

I’ve made it no secret that I’m rooting for Billie. She’s only 18 and experiencing a lot of fame, and I really hope not only that her success keeps up, but that she keeps her head on straight. Scoring a Bond film is a major accomplishment, but to be so young and do so much? Incredible.
