Amanda Bynes is going through it, but hopefully there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s reported that Bynes, 33, was seen heading to court in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Reports say she was rocking bright pink hair, smoking a cigarette and speaking with a group of people outside the courthouse.

The former teen Nickelodeon star has been struggling with drug abuse over the past few years. Bynes checked herself into a mental health facility in Los Angeles in early 2019.

It’s reported that the mental health facility was a sober living space that Bynes has now left.

Amanda, Please!

Bynes, who was born in Thousand Oaks, CA, started acting in plays and commercials when she was a child. In the late 1990s, she started appearing on Nickelodeon’s All That, and would later land her own series, The Amanda Show, which was extremely successful.

Bynes seemed like she was navigating a relatively smooth transition to more mature roles in the early 2000s. She had significant roles in successful films like Big Fat Liar, What a Girl Wants, Hairspray, Sydney White, and Easy A.

In 2010, when Easy A was released, Bynes announced she would be taking a break from acting to take care of her personal life.

She told Paper magazine in 2018, “I literally couldn’t stand my appearance in that movie and I didn’t like my performance. I was absolutely convinced I needed to stop acting after seeing it…I don’t know if it was a drug-induced psychosis, or what,” she said.

Mental Health Struggles

Bynes has been bravely outspoken about her struggles with mental illness and drug abuse. She was charged with a DUI in 2012 and allegedly threw a bong out the window of her 36th-floor apartment in Manhattan to hide it from police in 2013.

In 2013, Bynes was hospitalized in a 72-hour mental health evaluation hold.

After some shocking tweets Bynes wrote in 2014 about her parents, Drake, and many other topics, fans were worried about Bynes. But in 2018, she reported that she had been sober for four years. She has since apologized for the tweets, saying she was embarrassed by her behavior after she escaped the clutches of drug dependence.

She told Paper magazine, “When I was off of [drugs], I was completely back to normal and immediately realized what I had done. It was like an alien had literally invaded my body.”

Reports say that Bynes was spotted at court in Los Angeles to figure out matters of conservatorship with her parents.

We’re hoping that Amanda only continues to feel stronger. We miss her on the big screen!
