Pee-Wee Herman fans, you’re going to absolutely love this news.
Paul Reubens, 67, is bringing the character back in a big way, and we’re going to tell you how and when it’ll happen so you can make sure you’ll be able to take part in the 35-year commemoration of his most beloved film – Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.
If you were a big fan of Pee-Wee, the perpetually childish man who was well-known for his signature grey suit, white shoes, (naturally?) red lips, cropped hair, and bowtie, you might want to drop a big hint to your sweety about what you’d like for Valentine’s Day next year.
It has been announced today that Paul Reubens will be starring in the “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure” tour that will set off on February 14, at the Newmark Theatre in Portland, Oregon. The tickets will go on sale beginning December 13.
Even though this famous film has been around for over four decades now, there are still a lot of things about the movie that most folks aren’t aware of. Read on to find out more:
Remember how Pee-Wee goes on a search for what is undoubtedly the most famous bike in cinematic history?
That bike was sold on eBay in 2014 for the low, low price of $36,600. It sadly didn’t go for the “hundred million, trillion, billion dollars” that Pee-Wee estimated the bike’s value at in the film.
You have to admit that the movie wouldn’t have quite the same ‘spin’ (get it, bike joke?) if Tim Burton hadn’t directed it. Reubens pretty much refused to do the film altogether if Tim Burton wasn’t involved, and thankfully the film was able to come to fruition. It was also the very first collaboration between the now-famous Tim Burton/Danny Elfman duo.
Not only did Tim Burton direct the film–he also has a cameo! Remember the creepy guy walking around in the rain? Yep, that’s Tim!
If you were a fan of Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, you were probably also a fan of the Rugrats cartoon series that featured Tommy Pickles and his infantile band of friends. You know Dottie from the Pee-Wee film? She was the voice of Tommy Pickles. Is your mind blown?
