Cardi B “believes in forgiveness,” even when it comes to a cheating husband.
During an interview with Vogue for the January 2020 cover story, Cardi B gets real while talking about all those drama-filled cheating rumors about her husband, Offset, and why she decided to forgive him.
First things first: Cardi B has finally come out and confirmed that husband Offset did indeed cheat on her, proving that all those rumors were true. But the 27-year-old rapper says that she ultimately decided to forgive Offset and work on their relationship.
If you remember, Cardi did announce that the couple split in December of 2018, though she didn’t specifically say it was because Offset cheated. But in this new interview, she admits that she knew she wouldn’t be “happy on the inside” without “having the conversation” with her husband about his infidelity.
So, that’s what she did, but not before seeking help from her faith to get through the difficult time and forgive her husband. “I prayed on it. Me and my husband we prayed on it,” Cardi B admits, saying “We had priests come to us.”
After that, she says that they “just came to an understanding.”
“It’s really us against the world.”
The rapper says that despite doing what she felt was right, she was criticized for staying with Offset.
“When me and my husband got into our issues–you know, he cheated and everything–and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me,” Cardi told Vogue.
“But it’s real-life sh*t.”
“My thing is, everybody on social media acts like relationships is perfect…And that’s crazy to me,” Cardi says. “Everybody has issues.”
Ultimately, the couple decided not to call it quits, and Cardi says that they now have a “clear understanding” of each other’s boundaries. For Cardi, “monogamy is the only way.”
However, this is Cardi B that we’re talking about here. So, in true Cardi B fashion, she did add one last thing about infidelity: “I’ll beat your a** if you cheat on me.”
