Jenelle Evans and David Eason were one of the more controversial couples to arise from the Teen Mom franchise, but when they got married and had a child together, people hoped they would make it. That proved not to be the case as Jenelle announced on October 31st they would be getting a divorce.
Jenelle posted the announcement about the split on social media. She said that she’d been away from the spotlight to make some big decisions and talked about the effect of fame on her life. She said, “I’ve lived my life on camera since I was 17 years old. And alot of it hasn’t been pretty. But its been my life.”
She went on to say, “Like anyone else I want what’s best for my kids and I want to be happy. With time away from Teen Mom I’ve started to look at my life differently and I know I need to make changes. I’m starting that now.”
She then announced that she and her children have moved away from David and that she has filed for divorce. “Nobody gets into a marriage expecting it to end but I know that’s what is best for me, and for my kids,” she said, adding, “Me and the kids are doing great. We need some time to be together. But you’ll hear from us again soon.”
An insider said that the split was out of fear for the safety of her and her children, particularly after the couple had lost temporary custody of their kids a while ago.
The announcement of the divorce came just a few days after Jenelle met with MTV executives in New York.
Many people are speculating that Jenelle will be returning to TV on Teen Mom 2, particularly because the statement doesn’t sound like her and sounds more like something a PR person might write.
The main reason MTV stopped working with her was because of marriage to David. After he shot their family dog (allegedly because it growled at one of their children), public backlash was swift and decisive. Some people speculate that Jenelle left David so she could get back on the show.
Considering that the show’s ratings took a dip after she left the show, it seems that MTV would be happy to have her back–as long as she is willing to denounce the controversial things David has done in the past few years.
