Eminem’s “The Ringer” Reveals Visit From Secret Service Agents

Uh oh! Sounds like Slim Shady got in trouble with the law–but not in the way you might think. Eminem revealed that he was paid a visit by the Secret Service. Is he telling the truth?

Eminem questioned over song lyrics by Secret Service.

Eminem’s tenth album, Kamikaze starts off with the song “The Ringer.” As the lyrics suggest, the rapper was indeed paid a visit by the Secret Service agents who protect Donald Trump and the first family.

Is Eminem a Threat?

BuzzFeed reporter Jason Leopold was the first to question whether or not Eminem’s lyrics were true. The lyrics of his song “The Ringer” include the verse:

“‘Cause Agent Orange just sent the Secret Service / To meet in person to see if I really think of hurtin’ him / Or ask if I’m linked to terrorists / I said, ‘Only when it comes to ink and lyricists.’”

To find out the truth, Leopold filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, which is a request any person can make in writing to a federal agency to get records. He found that Eminem was in fact visited by the Secret Service.

Eminem is a strong critic of Donald Trump and spent much of a recent BET Awards event making fun of the president–including his bad tan. In addition, the lyrics of “Framed” include a line about driving around with Ivanka Trump in the trunk of his car.

Secret Service Report

According to the report obtained by Leopold, the Secret Service opened a file on Eminem after a “concerned citizen” contacted them about the lyrics of the song “Framed” which was released on the 2017 album Revival.

Based on the request, the reporter received a 40-page report from Donald Trump’s office. Most of it had been redacted–including the sections that contained the details of the discussion.

The case was referred to federal prosecutors as “NON-REFERRED,” meaning the agents did not conclude that he was a serious criminal threat to Donald Trump or the First Family.
