New court documents reveal some hefty claims against one Avengers star in the midst of a custody battle.
Jeremy Renner, the 48-year-old actor known for his role as Hawkeye, is now firing back against shocking allegations made by his ex-wife, Sonni Pacheco, during their custody battle over their 6-year-old daughter, Ava.
According to court documents filed by Sonni Pacheco, 28, Renner began ranting about killing her before sticking a gun in his own mouth and threatening to kill himself.
Pacheco says that the incident happened last November when Renner was at a club and was under the influence of alcohol and other substances. The actor supposedly started talking about wanting to kill his ex-wife, saying that he “could not deal with her anymore, and he just wanted her gone.”
On another occasion, the documents claim that the nanny had overheard Renner say that he was going to kill both Pacheco and himself, because “it was better that Ava had no parents” than having Pacheco as a mother.
Renner’s ex-wife is claiming that the actor has a history of substance abuse, verbal abuse, and emotional abuse. She says that he has repeatedly been under the influence when he had physical custody of Ava and has even left substances where their daughter could reach them.
With serious allegations like that, it’s not hard to see why Pacheco is asking the judge for sole custody. She is also asking for Renner to have monitored visitation.
Renner is now firing back against all of his ex-wife’s allegations, saying that she has fabricated these stories in an effort to gain money and get revenge.
A rep spoke on behalf of Renner, saying that “the well-being of his daughter Ava has always been and continues to be the primary focus for Jeremy.” The rep added, “It’s important to note the dramatizations made in Sonni’s declaration are a one-sided account made with a specific goal in mind.”
Insisting that he does not abuse substances, Renner claims that he willingly submitted to 3 months of random drug testing to prove Pacheco wrong. According to Renner, it’s actually his ex-wife who needs to research inpatient rehab centers for a drug problem, and that she also has an “overwhelming obsession with demonizing” Renner.
The custody battle royale is now up to the judge to decide. Renner and Pacheco have a court hearing scheduled for November 7th, and the former couple have also been ordered to attend child custody mediation.
