Jersey Shore stars Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and girlfriend Jen Harley have been famously on and of again for quite some time, but now the two are saying they’ve called it quits for good.
According to sources that are close with both Ronnie and Jen, the couple realizes that they can’t continue on in a relationship together. After a volatile relationship and some serious incidents that occurred last week, they acknowledge that being together is “not in the best interest of their daughter.”
The couple was seen together at a launch party for Ronnie’s Verge Products CBD line in West Hollywood, only a month after reports that they had called it quits. They were certainly packing on the PDA as Ronnie told reporters that they have “a strong love for each other.”
He also claimed that their relationship wasn’t exactly how it seems on TV, stating that people only see what the network wants to show to make for entertaining programming.
But it was only a few hours later that Ronnie was arrested following an altercation with Jen. He was booked on the suspicion of kidnapping and felony domestic violence, but was released after posting a $100,000 bond.
Ronnie allegedly slapped and punched Jen in the early morning hours at an Airbnb that they had rented in L.A., which is when Jen ran out of the house and started screaming for help.
According to law enforcement sources, Ronnie chased after Jen while holding their daughter… and a knife! By the time police arrived, Ronnie had barricaded himself and his daughter inside the home, leading officers to break down the door and subdue him.
Jen blamed Ronnie’s behavior on substance abuse, although that hasn’t been confirmed. It’s believable, though, considering Ronnie has already been through inpatient rehab centers in the past to deal with substance abuse.
An emergency protective order was issued following Ronnie’s arrest, which prevents him from coming within 100 yards of Jen. He is still allowed to visit with his daughter, though. The order runs out a week after Ronnie’s arrest, but Jen says that she’s pursuing a restraining order.
Speaking of their daughter, an inside source revealed that Ronnie and Jen only have a “loosely enforced custody agreement.” As of right now, they split time with her equally.
However, the now exes are planning on finding themselves in family court in the next few weeks over custody, where a “more solid arrangement” will be put in place.
