Talk about beef! Lil’ Kim squared off with an animal rights activist on the streets of New York City after the woman objected to the rapper’s furs.
Things got heated outside the Verizon Media Studios when the 45-year-old rapper, whose real name is Kimberly Denise Jones, was approached by anti-fur protesters. Kim was on her way to BUILD Studio, where she was scheduled to appear in promotion of her new album.
Anti-fur protesters must have gotten wind that Kim was going to be there that day, and they showed up to let her know what they thought.
Lil’ Kim has always been known as a trendsetter, both in the music industry and for her fashion. Her iconic wardrobe has always incorporated fur, and the artist has plenty of luxurious and expensive fur coats in her closet.
Oddly enough, though, the rapper was not wearing any fur when multiple activists showed up to protest her lavish use of animal products in her wardrobe.
Despite wearing an unusually sedate outfit that consisted of a cropped jacket, white t-shirt, and black leggings, the protesters were still ready to go hard at Kim when she pulled up in a blacked-out Tahoe, one of the safest SUVs on the road. As soon as she stepped out of the vehicle, the protesters started shouting, “Shame on you!”
One animal rights protester, who was carrying a sign that read ‘Lil Kim Animal Abuser,’ was particularly aggressive with the rapper. She was yelling things like, “Animals get electrocuted,” and “Lil’ Kim, stop wearing fur! Shame on you for wearing fur!”
The hostile protester must have gotten just a little too close and too loud for Kim’s liking, because the rapper decided to stand up to her. Kim started yelling back at her, telling her to “Back up!” several times as she stepped closer and closer to the protester.
In an effort to defuse the situation and prevent an all-out brawl amid a sea of paparazzi, Lil’ Kim’s bodyguards held her back and then escorted her away from the group of protesters.
It is unclear who the anti-fur protester was that got in Kim’s face, but it is being reported that the group of protesters were with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). That organization just made waves when they called out newlywed Justin Bieber for his purchase of $35,000 designer kittens.
