Mama June desperately needs help. That’s what her estranged family is saying as they try to pry her away from her boyfriend, Geno Doak. But is it too late for the troubled reality star?
The Walmart Kris Jenner might be the matriarch of her reality family, but the brief popularity they enjoyed thanks to Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is but a vague memory. The last time Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson appeared in the public eye, she was competing on the junior version of Dancing with the Stars. Unfortunately, Mama June has stayed in the headlines longer than the rest of her family thanks to her disastrous life choices.
Chief among those bad decisions is Geno Doak, June’s boyfriend. You know, the one who was with her in March when they were arrested for possession of crack cocaine while having a massive fight in a gas station parking lot.
June’s teenage daughters have reportedly refused to see their mom until she ditches Geno and kicks her addictions. Instead of choosing to reconcile with her kids, June sold their stuff on Facebook. She and her boyfriend are apparently living in an RV now after having sold off everything they own.
It’s clear just from looking at recent photos and videos of June that all is not well with her. After having lost 300 lbs thanks to gastric sleeve surgery, June received a massive makeover that included a brand-new set of teeth. But the glamorous look she maintained for her latest reality show, Mama June: From Not to Hot is gone.
Now, she appears to have slid into some very dangerous and self-destructive habits. Her teeth are broken and discolored, her hair disheveled. And at least one person who bought something at the online yard sale reported that the bedroom of June’s house had used needles strewn across the floor.
After having been dropped by TLC following the revelation that June’s partner Mark McDaniel had been convicted of molesting her oldest daughter, We TV decided to take a chance on the troubled reality star. Now that network is reportedly considering whether to even air the footage they filmed in recent months.
However, We TV was still onsite to film the couple outside the courthouse last week. As June and Geno approached the courthouse, where they would be indicted by a grand jury on felony drug charges, reporters were shocked. Geno hurled slurs at the crowd and chanted “not guilty.”
The camera crew also caught June refusing to speak to her sister, Joanne, who arrived after the indictment to beg June to get help. June slammed the car door in her sister’s face, and she reportedly refuses to accept phone calls from her frantic family.
This isn’t the first time the Shannon clan has tried to get through to June. Earlier this year, We TV staged an intervention for the cameras, but even her daughter’s tears could not get through to her.
“Mama, I would love to come home and stay with you — tell you about my day, but I can’t do that because I’m scared,” Honey Boo Boo said in the tearful video. The 13-year-old former beauty queen left June’s home to live with her 19-year-old sister, who is a new mom herself.
June’s family is still hoping to get her into the best drug rehab clinic those TLC dollars can buy. Sadly, until she decides to get help–and kick her boyfriend to the curb–it doesn’t look like anything will get better.
