Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner stirred up laughter as presenters at the Emmy Awards on Sunday, but I’m not sure the audience was laughing with them so much as at them.
The sisters were there to hand out the award for Outstanding Reality TV, which went to RuPaul’s Drag Race. 38-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kim K said, “Our family knows firsthand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves.”
Her sister, Kendall Jenner, 23, chimed in to finish Kim’s thought with, “Telling their stories, unfiltered and unscripted.”
The audience full of famous faces couldn’t keep it straight and broke out in laughter. Some outlets and fans alike reported that Kim K and Kendall appeared annoyed at the reaction they garnered from the audience.
However, knowing the Kardashian/Jenner clan, there is a likely chance that the two were in on the joke or are at least self-aware enough to see the humor in their statements. After the incident, comedian Kathy Griffin kept the laughter going when she told Entertainment Tonight not to shed any tears for Kim K and Kendall, though, because “they get laughed at and go home and count their money.” Touché!
Accidental laughter was not the only hiccup the reality star sisters faced while presenting at the Emmy Awards, either. What happened to Kylie?
The pair was originally scheduled to be a trio, but they were one sister short for the evening. 22-year-old Kylie Jenner was supposed to take the stage with them but ended up not attending the awards show.
Sources say she skipped the event for good reason, though. Apparently, the cosmetics connoisseur missed the Emmys because she “was sick, and she has been sick for days.” She also missed another event recently from being ill.
The rest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan didn’t walk the red carpet at the Emmys, either. Kim K, Kendall, and Kylie were the only family members scheduled to attend this year’s event. Kourtney and Khloé spent their evening making use of their internet service instead, live-tweeting and engaging with fans during the new episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which premiered at the same time as the Emmys.
