Marvel ‘Very Much’ Wants Keanu Reeves to Join Their Universe

Despite Keanu Reeves technically being old enough to qualify for AARP (No, you don’t have to be retired. Just 50), the internet is in love with him right now.

He is even bigger than when the Sad Keanu meme blew up, and this year has been great for his career.

marvel wants keanu feat

Keanu has never played a Marvel superhero in the past, but Marvel Studios ‘very much’ would be interested in having him on board. We can only begin to imagine what the internet will do if this happens.

An interview with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took a Reeves turn when he was asked if he had ever considered Keanu for a role in the Marvel universe. Feige’s answer took everyone by surprise when she said he has all but begged the actor to join the cast, and inquires at each movie if there is a role Reeves wants to play.

What Is Next for Marvel?

If you think Reeves time to be in a superhero movie has come and gone with the end of the Avengers trilogy, think again. Marvel isn’t going to stop making movies just because we have gotten a conclusion.

While they haven’t been as open about future plans as fans would like, we do know that a Black Widow standalone movie starring recently engaged Scarlett Johansson should be released sometime between 2020 and 2022.

There is also a Black Panther and Doctor Strange sequel somewhere happening, and those should have similar release dates – within the next two to three years.  A movie based on ‘The Eternals’ should also come out sometime next year, probably late 2020, and has Angelina Jolie in talks for joining the cast. Reeves could fit great in any of these roles!

What Has Keanu Been Up To Lately?

Reeves has had a busy first half of 2019, and we are excited to see what else is in store for him. So far, he has made an amazing cameo in the Netflix movie Always Be My Maybe where he plays himself and fights the main male lead, starred in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (Which has made over $250 million in the box office!), and voiced a character in the upcoming highly anticipated Toy Story 4.

In something new for Reeves, he also crashed E3 this year, a huge video game and technology conference, and revealed he has been working with CD Projekt on the highly anticipated video game Cyberpunk 2077. In it, Reeves features a cybernetic arm and takes the main character on a journey of danger and discovery.

Reeves shows no sign of slowing down, and we here certainly hope to see him star in a Marvel film soon!
