Has actress Jessica Biel really entered into the anti-vaxxer movement, joining the ranks of several other outspoken celebrities?
This week, Biel visited the California State Senate to lobby against SB 276. The bill has a strict pro-vaccine stance and reduces medical exemptions from vaccination. Some estimates claim it would cut these exemptions by around 40 percent.
The actress, who has a 4-year-old son with husband Justin Timberlake, says she opposes the bill. However, she claims it’s not because she is against vaccines, but that she disagrees with certain aspects of the legislation.
Biel received swift backlash for teaming up with controversial anti-vaxxer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to fight the bill. Many criticized her views on Twitter and other social media sites.
The 37-year-old shot back on her Instagram though, explaining why she’s taken the stance that she has.
Whether or not Biel and Timberlake have vaccinated their own son, Silas, is unknown. Reportedly, in 2015, they said they had no intention of doing so.
She mentioned having friends who could be affected by the bill; however, we wonder if her lobbying is for personal reasons.
