More than 20 years after the very first Harry Potter book was released, JK Rowling has announced she is going to be releasing 4 ‘bite-sized’ ebooks set in the Wizarding World we all know so well.
These ebooks will be shorter than a traditional Harry Potter book, and Rowling says they are going to focus on the magic and mystery of the world, diving into Hogwarts lessons like Herbology and Defense Against the Dark Arts.
J.K. Rowling has been estimated to have a net worth of over a billion dollars – which hardly comes as a surprise. After all, her Wizarding World is one of the highest grossing franchises in the world.
And though she wrote the first book of the original Harry Potter series over 20 years ago, she’s clearly not ready to quit.
The key distinction is that these e-books will be works of non-fiction. Pottermore Publishing describes the series as a way to “learn about the traditional folklore and magic at the heart of the Harry Potter stories.”
A Journey Through Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts and A Journey Through Potions and Herbology are expected to be released June 27th of this year. The following two titles, A Journey Through Divination and Astronomy and A Journey Through Care of Magical Creatures should release not long after.
In addition to diving into the lore and magical workings of the world Rowling has famously created, the ebooks are to include illustrations, notes, and manuscript pages much like ‘Harry Potter: A History of Magic’.
Of course, the subject matter may already be familiar to you if you’ve listened to the Harry Potter: A History of Magic audiobook, that is narrated by Natalie Dormer.
The upcoming ebooks are adapted from said audiobook. Of course, they will also include some beautiful, new illustrations.
