Five years and three (new) children later and it’s already time to celebrate Kim and Kanye’s wooden wedding anniversary.
The power couple wed on May 24, 2014, in Florence, Italy at the scenic Forte di Belvedere. In many ways, the ceremony and reception were as extravagant as you might expect—guests’ names were engraved into marble tables designating where to sit, 30 life-sized nude statues watched over attendees as they ate, and the audio system setup cost no less than $111,000.
In other ways, the ceremony remained traditional: the couple wore traditional wedding attire (albeit created by some of the world’s top designers), there was the standard child running around wearing a Batman costume (Will Smith’s son Jaden), and Kanye was reportedly as nervous a groom as anyone would be.
Many members of Kim’s regular reality show crew were also in attendance, including Simon Huck, Brittny Gastineau, Malika Haqq, and Jonathan Cheban.
Popera singer Andrea Bocelli kicked off the ceremony by singing “Ave Maria” as Kim glided down the aisle, then later sang his megahit “Con Te Partiro”. Other special guests from the world of arts and entertainment included rappers Tyga and Common, Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin, fashion designer Rachel Roy, and even magician David Blaine.
For their anniversary, of which they’re “very proud,” the two had a low-key date night the night before.
They couple went out for a candle-lit dinner in Los Angeles. And, being the celebrities that they are, they allegedly also received special treatment by the restaurant’s staff.
Kim wore a very simple, body-hugging black dress with heels. And Kanye donned black pants, a plain white t-shirt, and a Carhartt jacket. Both seemed to have a very casual vibe going on overall.
But their little date night wasn’t all the pair did to celebrate. Kanye also whisked his wife off to Las Vegas to see a Céline Dion concert the very next day. The reality star shared several clips from the concert, noting that the trip had been a complete surprise.
Of course, no Kardashian celebration would be complete without several pre-planned social media posts, too.
In honor of the special day, Kim not only shared a slideshow of behind-the-scenes wedding photos, she also released a special KKW Beauty collection.
The “Mrs. West Collection,” she said, was inspired by her wedding makeup, created by longtime friend and makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic. The packaging also features several romantic photos from the couple’s wedding day.
All in all, it seems like they had a great anniversary, filled with both planned and unplanned surprises. So, congrats Kimye, and cheers FourFiveYears!
