We expect a certain amount of drama from the stars of reality shows like Teen Mom. That’s just part of the appeal. But when Jenelle Evans revealed what her husband did to her beloved dog, it was just too much.
On Tuesday, Jenelle’s husband, David Eason, shot her French bulldog. Poor little Nugget did not survive, and Jenelle called the police as she ran from her home.
An inside source told Us Weekly that the dog “snapped” at the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, Ensley. So David’s apparent solution was to shoot it dead. Jenelle’s middle child, a 4-year-old boy named Griffith, was with the couple at the time. Her oldest, Jace–the baby that landed her a spot on Teen Mom 2–was with his maternal grandmother on a cruise.
The same source told the gossip rag that Jenelle was too scared to go home, other than to pack a bag. She “doesn’t feel safe with David.” Um, he shot her dog! Why would she possibly feel safe with him?
For most of us, pets are members of the family. Losing them to illness or old age is devastating enough. But this? This is a horror story, not a reality show.
David confessed on Instagram the day after the incident. He claimed that the shooting was “all about protecting my family” because “some people are worth killing or dying for.”
Again, this was a relatively small, young French bulldog. The only consolation is that David didn’t shoot Nugget in front of the kids. Instead, he took the dog out into the woods on their property. Although, in a way, that’s even worse because he was able to do this terrible thing in cold blood.
For her part, Jenelle is devastated. She posted a photo of herself with Nugget on Twitter and wrote:
“Nugget… I’m crying everyday. I love you so much and I’m so sorry. I’m speechless. You were my side kick and knew the moment I felt bad and would cuddle with me. Everyday I wake up you’re not here, when I come home you’re not here, when I go to bed… you’re not here. You’re gone forever and there’s no coming back.”
Jenelle and David have been married since September 2017. Since then, there have been rumors that all was not well between them. That same source told Us Weekly that her friends hope this incident will finally get Jenelle to leave him.
It’s also not the first time that the couple has been linked to possible animal cruelty. David caused outrage on social media when a video of him dragging a pig by its back legs appeared on Instagram Live. But Jenelle also caught heat when she told her Twitter followers that her pit bull was killing baby chicks from their hen house.
After the story broke, Jenelle reached out to tell her side of the story. She said, “At this time, we are dealing with this rough situation. I want to focus on what’s best for me and my kids.”
Jenelle said that, although she hasn’t made any move to officially separate from her husband, divorce is not off the table. Honey, you need to get those papers signed immediately!
