Celebrity brand ambassadors are nothing new. Magazines from the turn of the century featured ads for cosmetics and hosiery with the stars of the era.
These days, makeup and fashion brands shell out millions of dollars for celebrity beauty campaigns.
The luxury skincare brand has a wide range of celebrity ambassadors. The youngest is Spider-Man star Zendaya. Julia Roberts and Lupita Nyong’o also have endorsement contracts with Lancôme.

This French fashion house is no stranger to famous brand ambassadors. Currently, Penelope Cruz, Kristen Stewart, and Margot Robbie are among the big names who wear Chanel on the red carpet.
The company recently tapped Lily-Rose Depp to headline a campaign for their cosmetics line, too. Chanel doesn’t just choose women to represent their brand; a few years ago, they paid Brad Pitt a reported $7 million to be the face of their Chanel No. Five fragrance for a series of ads.
Do you want to smell like Cate Blanchett? She’s the “face” of Armani’s new fragrance, called Sì. The ad features the Oscar-winning actress living her best life–including skydiving.
Ryan Reynolds starred in a short film for another fragrance from Armani. His ad is very James Bond, with a snazzy tux and bow-tie.
Natalie Portman has a long-running relationship with Dior. Her latest campaign is something called “Diorskin Forever,” a long-wearing foundation with a strange name.
The whole idea behind the celebrity endorsement is that it makes you believe that you’ll look like the brand ambassador. Will you suddenly look like Natalie Portman if you put Diorskin on your face? We couldn’t say for sure.
One of the most famous Dior ambassadors is Jennifer Lawrence, who wears the label on most of her major red carpet appearances. Whether that’s a good thing is up for debate. Personally, we think her iconic red Calvin Klein dress at her first Oscars ceremony was the best she ever looked.
Marc Jacobs has a huge stable of brand ambassadors. The latest is Irina Shayk, Bradley Cooper’s partner. The diverse group of famous faces includes Winona Ryder, Jessica Lange, and Kaia Gerber.
The drugstore brand might not be as luxurious as the other labels on this list, but they manage to attract some major marquee names for their campaigns. Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot models red lipstick for Revlon’s “Live Boldly” ad campaign.
