Fans are worried after Pete Davidson posted an alarming message on Instagram and hiding in his dressing room during SNL rehearsals on Saturday.
On Saturday afternoon, Pete Davidson posted this message on Instagram :
“i really don’t want to be on this earth anymore. i’m doing my best to stay here for you but i actually don’t know how much longer i can last. all i’ve ever tried to do was help people. just remember i told you so”
Afterward, he deleted his Instagram.
The cry for help prompted immediate response from his friends and fans, include a series of heart emojis from Nicki Minaj and a private message request from his friend Travis Mills.
Jada Pinkett Smith reached out on Twitter, encouraging him to accept help and reminding him that “[i]t gets better.”
Pete’s good friend Machine Gun Kelly immediately rushed to check on him in person. On Twitter, he reassured Pete’s fans: “im in the plane now on the way to see Pete. gonna make sure he’s good, i promise. can’t have my boy in the darkness like that.”
Ariana Grande rushed to the SNL studio at 30 Rock to check on her ex… but Pete reportedly told his security not to let her in. Their very public whirlwind romance and breakup has garnered non-stop headlines since May of this year.
As she made her way to the building, she tweeted-and-deleted “I know u have everyone u need and that’s not me, but i’m here too.”
The NYPD also made a wellness check on him, although we don’t know who called the police or when, exactly, they arrived.
Pete briefly appeared on Saturday Night Live that evening to introduce Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson, but he was cut from all other live sketches that night by a concerned Lorne Michaels. Pete reportedly refused to leave his dressing room during rehearsals before the show.
He also appeared in a pre-taped segment, where he portrayed Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek. Sources says that Michaels is willing to give him as much time as he needs to recover, but that Pete expects to be back in front of the camera when SNL returns in January.
